The Center for American Military Music Opportunities (C*A*M*M*O) is announcing a music therapy service that is scheduled to begin March 1, 2012: ”VIBEZ” a portable listening program designed to provide therapeutic support to veterans recovering from the stress and trauma associated from combat. Completely individualized depending upon each veteran’s unique needs, this portable form of music therapy incorporates the use of digital music technology, such as iPods, which have been personalized with each participant’s musical and sound preferences and available at the convenience of the participant.
Neurologic research has demonstrated the impact music has on the human brain and validates its use as a therapeutic tool. Whether it is for pain management, stress reduction, alleviating anxiety or depression, or stimulating the injured brain, therapeutic music can have a profound effect. C*A*M*M*O is working with board-certified music therapists to design creative approaches to treatment and is proud to be sponsoring ”VIBEZ” the first portable music therapy program available to veterans.
Beginning March 1st, veterans or their families/caregivers will be able to log on to the C*A*M*M*O website @ www.cammomusic.org to learn more about the program, register, and work with C*A*M*M*O staff to identify preferred music which can then be downloaded onto an iPod which you send us or available for a nominal fee. Ask about scholarships which may be available.
If you or your organization would like to support this program through the donation of equipment, music gift cards, or funds, please contact Cathie Lechareas or Tina Haynes listed at the website. Please join us in our mission to provide quality music therapy services to our nation’s heroes.
